Let’s use Dr. Seuss’s birthday to our advantage! In fact, let’s make the entire weekend about celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday? Start with eating green eggs and ham for breakfast. How about green pancakes tomorrow? Then ask your Mom for some cornstarch, and add just the right amount of water to enjoy playing with Oobleck! Ask you Mom or Dad to drive you to store to buy a delicious cake because you can’t sing Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss without some cake, right (wink, wink)?!? Turn on ‘The Cat in the Hat’ while making a HUGE blanket fort in the family room. When your Mom looks shocked, just say that you’re creatively acting out the story. Have fun! Make sure and share any of your adventures this weekend in the comments section on our Youtube channel. “I don’t care if you like my name or not. That’s my name. It’s the only name I’ve got.” – Dr. Seuss
Many children are going to neighborhood libraries, today, to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. “My Book about Me: By Me Myself” is an interactive book. You, the reader, gets to insert all of the answers, information about yourself into it. Stories and books about you makes for the most interesting of all.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss’s birthday is marked as National Read Across America Day. So, in honor of his legacy of literacy, individuality, creativity, and play, please read or listen to one of his books, on Story Time with Amber and Erin.
